Hanafuda Pachinko
Pachinko has to be one of the most pointless games ever invented. I have no idea why it is so popular in Japan. I once talked about it with a friend of mine who reckoned that it is probably popular because you don't have to think much about it when playing and so it is a distraction from the daily pressures of Japanese life. This machine was found in Shibuya, Tokyo.

These are very striking designs that have a 1970's type retro feel to them. I'm not sure how practical these would be to play with due to the colour scheme employed here. I really like the 'monster' hiding in the Gaji card.

Hanafuda themed Business Cards (Meishi)
Business cards are a big thing in Japan and these look fantastic!
Hanafuda Hawaiian Style!
I visited Hawaii (well only Oahu) way back in 1998 as part of an around-the-world trip and I can't remember ever seeing any hanafuda in shops, although I can't say I was looking for them as I wasn't even aware of Hanafuda, let alone Hanafuda Hawaiian style!

Hello Kitty Stamps
Back in 2008, Japan Post issued
some Hello Kitty stamps featuring Hello Kitty and her boyfriend Daniel
wearing 'The Tale of Genji' samurai and princess robes. The 6,090
yen self adhesive stamp sets included several plastic “netsuke,” or
tiny figures of the couple.
These cards definitely contain Hanafuda references and are Kawaii des!
